Who can join as a member/what are the requirements for becoming a member?

Anyone working or studying in the field of child maltreatment who wants the latest research, resources and tools related to child protection and who is current on their dues can become an ISPCAN member. This can mean: pediatricians, researchers, professors, social workers, nurses, teachers, students, etc.

Can my organization join as a member?

Currently, we have group and individual memberships. We do not have organizational memberships. For more information on all of our categories of membership and their coinciding benefits, please visit: Member Benefits


How can I pay online?

When you get to the payment page, you can select “credit card" or "Paypal."  Enter all your billing and credit card information, and submit your payment.


My credit card was declined. What do I do?

Check that you put all of your payment and billing information correctly. Make sure the expiration date has two digits for the month and four digits for the year. If the information is correct and it is still declined, contact your credit card company. Sometimes international payments or those payments over a certain dollar amount get declined by the credit card company as a precaution. If you contact your company and are still unable to pay with that card, you may want to try another credit card or another form of payment. We also accept wire transfer, US check or money order.


Can I pay by bank transfer or check?

If you would like to write ISPCAN a check, please first mail it with your basic information (name, email, address) and we can easily process your membership for you.  Make checks out to ISPCAN.


Please select "Paypal," which you can set up to connect to your bank account.  This is one of the most secure ways to pay us directly. 


I am on auto-renew. How do I submit new payment information?

  1.  Log into your account:

  3.  Your list of invoices should show up right away. If it does not, under "Invoicing, Payments, & History", click "Membership."
  4.  On the first invoice listed "Open (Awaiting Auto-Bill)", click the 2nd icon - the one that looks like currency/credit cards.
  5.  Update any out of date information. 
  6.  Click submit payment.
  7.  You will receive an email when your dues are processed.


How do I renew my membership?

1.  Login to your account:

4.  Follow instructions for payment. You will receive an email when your dues are processed.

I cannot access the online Journal.

It takes one to two weeks to process your subscription after you renewed or joined ISPCAN. If that time has passed, please review these how-to’s for online access:

Why haven't I received my copy of the Journal?

Once we and Elsevier process your membership, you will receive each issue 6-8 weeks after the print date, so you may not receive the first issue each year until late February/ early March. If you still have not received an issue, please check that your mailing address and phone number are up to date. Log into your account. Under My Profile, select “manage profile” then “edit bio.” We will forward your new address to Elsevier, though you may also contact them directly to update it. If your address is correct, and you are still missing an issue, please contact Elsevier’s support feature by emailing

When does my membership expire?

 All ISPCAN memberships expire 12 months from date of processing. It may take 7-14 business days for memberships to be processed but you will receive a welcome email once your membership has been processed and your account is active.

 To check your specific expiration date, you may log into your account and click “membership info” under My Profile.

I have a new address/email address. How do I update it?

Log into your account. Under My Profile, select “manage profile” then “edit bio.” We will forward your new address to Elsevier, though you may also contact them directly to update it.
